I’ve always been an ancient history buff, but there were certain characters from the pages of history that always struck me a little harder than the rest. Queen Medb was one of those characters. I never saw her as a dark figure. I saw her for the queen she was, living in a time when you had to be tough to survive…especially if you were a woman.
I created an RPG character of Queen Medb. In my world, she was a Celtic queen who found the key to immortality. Since then, she’s taken on a life of her own. I’ve been working on a serial fiction piece called The Immortal Warrior Queen. It’s the story of how Queen Medb became immortal and where her life went from there. It’s been a fun piece to write.
I’m always searching for information about whether or not Queen Medb was a real person, or simply the stuff of legends. As with most ancient celebrities, it all depends on who you ask.

Queen Maeve
This is an entire site dedicated to what life would be like if she was a real person. It covers stories and legends about her family, lovers, the area thought to have been her home, and more. This is a very informative site.
Rathcroghan
Believed to have once been the capitol of ancient Connacht, Rathcroghan has proven to be a rich source of information. There is some speculation that this is where the Samhain festival was to have originated.
Medb’s Men
This is a translation of a story known as The Battle of Boyne. It’s an in-depth look into the life of the queen.
