~~~~~~~~~~
So, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about selling their AI artwork. This is also a dream of mine, but not so much for the money (yes, that’s part of it), but because I always wanted to be a visual artist. The problem is that I cannot draw. I could color in a coloring book like nobody’s business, but it was always someone else’s drawing.
When I started doing AI art, I wondered if I could ever sell any of it. It wasn’t my initial reason for the artwork, but it did cross my mind. I was so impressed with some of the images I was creating and wanted to share it with the world. I’ve tried a few different places, but haven’t had any success. So, now I’m trying something else.
I read an article not long ago about a site called Redbubble. It’s a place where you can upload your artwork, including AI art, and have it put on all kinds of different products to sell. You can choose from items such as coffee mugs and t-shirts to phone cases and backpacks. The company takes care of all the details. You choose which products you want your work shown on.
There are three tiers for sellers, but most people start out at the standard level. At this level, you have to pay a small fee once something of yours sells. There are no out-of-pocket fees. You don’t pay anything until you make a sale. Once you’ve made enough sales or have a large enough following, you could be moved up to the premium level. Once you hit this level, the company drops the sales fee. The pro level is meant for those who bring in a ton of traffic and make large sales.
When you start uploading your work, you have the option to create collections. This makes it easier for your customers to find what they really want. You can have up to 30 collections with up to one hundred works each. You also have the option of deleting images and adding new work.
You can’t just jump in and open up shop. Your work and your storefront have to be approved by the company. They have a checklist of things that have to be completed before they’ll consider your shop. It’s nothing major; you just need to set up your profile page, fill out the information on how to get paid, and upload your artwork. They say it takes 3-5 business days for them to look over your site, but I got approved in about 24 hours.
The one thing to remember is that you’ve got to keep adding your artwork. It’s what keeps the company’s eyes on you. They want people who have a lot to share and are willing to show it off to the world. For me, it’s the push I need to keep going. It also makes me more aware of the prompts I use to create my art.
I’ve only been with Redbubble for a few days, so I can’t attest to how good or bad the site is. The one thing I do know is that I’ve got to get better at marketing my work. That’s on me and I suck at it. But maybe this is the lesson I need to learn.
If you’re an AI artist, check out Redbubble for selling your work. If you know of other sites that do something similar, let me know. I’d love to find other sites to sell my AI artwork.
Until next time,
Stay Creative!!!
