Happy New Year!!! I am so excited to get this year up and running.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have a lot of plans for this new year. I talked about how I wanted to work more on my personal blogs and my online shops, and I’ve already done something to help make that happen.
A couple of years ago, I started a Substack newsletter to go with this blog. I had good intentions, but I suck at doing newsletters. I get myself too worked up over it being perfect and end up walking away. I keep telling my granddaughter that it’s okay for her to NOT be perfect in school. I have to get it through my own mind as well.
I’m planning on putting out the newsletter twice a month. I put out the first updated issue on January 1st, so I think I’ll do the next one on the 15th—roughly every two weeks. I’m going to set it up so that readers can find whatever they’re looking for from all three of my blogs and/or the new listings on my online stores, without having to go through a long list of crap they’re not interested in.
This will all be with the free version of the newsletter. I am working on something for anyone who subscribes to the paid plan. I’m not sure what yet, but I’ll think of something. The paid plan will be $5 per month or $50 per year. There’s a podcast option on Substack, but I don’t know if I can do that. I’ve also thought about doing videos. Maybe videos of some of my crafts or something along those lines.
IF (and that’s a big IF) the newsletter gets up to 100 subscribers, I’ll also start looking into adding sponsors. I’m not talking about Google Ads or affiliate ads, I mean real people who have real sites online that they’d like seen. The mom who wrote her first book, the older gentleman selling his woodcrafts or metal signs, or even the struggling artist trying to sell their paintings. I’ll work on that idea as I go along. We have to get closer to 100 subscribers before I get too attached to that one.
I’ve also made contact with the person who edited my first short read in the Investigating the Beyond series. They’re on board and ready to edit Book 2. I’m very excited about that, but I need to get off my keester and finish it.
I’m very excited to see where this year leads me. I can make all this happen, as long as I remember to take my time and let it flow. If I rush anything, I’ll fail. If I take my time and stick to my plan, I should be okay. My biggest hurdle will be in believing in myself. That’s usually where I fall short.
I can do this. I have to do this. It’s possible as long as I take it one day at a time.
Until next time,
Happy New Year!!!
