Since taking on the endeavor of maintaining four blogs and my Medium page, I’ve had to get creative in coming up with ideas. Each of my blogs has a different niche. Trying to come up with fresh ideas for each one can turn the brain to mush. So, I decided to try something different. I asked an AI chatbot.
Now, for the record, I’ve never had an AI program write anything for me. However, I use AI as a tool to come up with ideas, to find more information, and to come up with angles I hadn’t thought of before. And which one do I use? Gemini AI.
For several months now, I’ve been using Gemini to help shape my writing projects. I don’t have the AI do the writing for me. I just use it to take my ideas to the next level.
I’ve used Gemini to help me create storylines and topics in some of my niche categories. Then, I decided to go completely off the wall and just throw something out there to see what would happen. And I was amazed.
As a prompt writer, I’m always coming up with just goofy stuff. I like to throw words together that have no business being in the same sentence. So, I did that with Gemini and was given some of the coolest ideas ever.
Here’s what I did. I threw in the phrase, “Red isn’t blue because silver is king”. I figured I’d either get a “cannot compute” message or I’d break the program. On the contrary, Gemini gave me ideas in various fiction genres. It gave me ideas for fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and even symbolic. Most of the ideas I’d never even considered. I don’t write sci-fi, but I might give it a shot.
The series I’ve been working on, Investigating the Beyond, is the product of a brainstorming session with Gemini. The program gave me the prompt, “Write a story about a psychic, a police officer, a thief, and a college student”. So far, I’ve written two 30-minute reads. The first one is about an aging psychic and the second is about an elderly private investigator. Book 3 will be about a Columbian weapons expert and the 4th will be about a young woman with a degree in Botany. The final book will be about the four characters coming together as a single unit.
I’ve also used Gemini to help with some of my non-fiction pieces. I wrote a piece about the differences between the Greek and the Roman gods of love. Though they are basically the same deity, they are very different. If it wasn’t for Gemini, I would have missed a few key facts.
As I said, I don’t have the AI program write my pieces for me. In my opinion, that just beats the purpose of becoming a writer. However, even as a prompt writer, I get writer’s block sometimes. This is just another tool in my arsenal. It’s just another way to be creative.
My favorite part of using Gemini is the fact that I can do it in a way that feels more like having an actual conversation. I don’t feel as though I’m brainstorming with a computer. It’s more like brainstorming with a cherished friend. It makes me feel more creative and some of the ideas I get from Gemini’s suggestions have taken me down roads I didn’t even know existed.
Until next time,
Stay Creative!!!!!
