Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman

A few years back, I had the pleasure of meeting a fabulous writer by the name of Andrew E. Kaufman. He had just published his first novel titled While The Savage Sleeps, and was having a contest on one of the book blogs I’d subscribed to. Grand prize was a new Kindle complete with a copy of his book on it. I jumped into the contest though I’m not exactly the kind of person who ever wins anything. But this time was different. I not only won the contest and the Kindle, I also won a new friendship with one of the best writers EVER!

Well I’m happy to announce that my very cool friend has just released his 4th novel (5th book), Twisted. Knowing what type of books Andrew writes, I was a little concerned due to the title, but as they say, never just a book by its cover. Well in this case, Twisted is an understatement. I had the pleasure of being allowed to read an advanced copy of this book and must say, I was way more than taken in by it. Not just because Andrew is a friend, but because I couldn’t put this book down. I’m not the kind of person who can sit down and read a book in less than a week, but I read this one in just a few days.

Twisted is the story of Dr. Christopher Kellan, a psychologist working at Loveland Psychiatric Hospital. When the biggest case of his life comes through the doors, he must deal with his own inner demons while trying to fight his way through those of an accused child killer. This book comes with more twists and turns than a backwoods moonshine run. Just about the time you think you’ve got the plot of this book figured out, another detail comes out of nowhere and blindsides you. I found myself laughing in places, screaming in others, and even outwardly crying in spots.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Again, not because the I consider the author a friend, but because it’s been a long time since I read a book that kept me on the edge of my seat and left me feeling as though I’d just been on a huge roller coaster ride. If you love a good mystery/thriller type story, and you might be a little twisted yourself, then you’ve got to check out this book. It will blow your twisted little mind.
